Frequently Asked Questions

What is an online / remote wedding?

An online/remote wedding ceremony is just like a “traditional” in-person ceremony, EXCEPT that our ceremonies are conducted via an online platform, like Zoom.

Is an online / remote wedding even legal?

In 2019, Utah County in Utah, USA began the practice of facilitating online/remote wedding ceremonies.

Although we do not provide legal advice, nor are we attorneys, the online/remote ceremonies conducted through this process are recognized as legal, providing you with a Marriage License/Certificate of Marriage, issued by Utah County.

That License/Certificate you receive from Utah County is the same as if you were married in a “traditional” in-person ceremony.

How does it even work?

Great question!

We've created a simple, 4-step guide for you here.

How do we get our license?

You can get your license directly from Utah County, by clicking here.

Do I have to live in Utah, or be a Utah resident to get a Utah County Marriage License?

No you don't. You can live anywhere in the world and apply for your Utah County Marriage License.

How soon do we get our Marriage Certificate after our ceremony?

Because we finalize your Marriage License IMMEDIATELY after your ceremony, most couples receive the digital copy of their Certifcate of Marriage withing a few minutes after the completion of your ceremony.

Then, Utah County usually mails out the physical copy of your Certificate within a couple days of your completed ceremony.

Can you provide a spouse for me?

Haha…unfortunately, no. We’re not that type of service. You do have to bring your own.

Do we have to be in the same physical location when we get married?

No you don’t. You can both be anywhere in the world, together or separately.

Do our witnesses have to physically be with us?

No they don’t. We like to say your witnesses can be in the same room, or on the same Zoom, they just have to watch you get married. They do have to be over the age of 18 and have an ID with them before we begin the ceremony.

Can you officiate in other languages?

We can officiate your wedding ceremony in English or in Mandarin (Chinese).

What are your online/remote ceremony fees?

Our ceremony fee is quite simple...

$99 for a simple online/remote ceremony.

We do have other packages available as well, ranging from $159 to $299.

The only other fees you need to pay (directly to Utah County) are your Marriage License Application Fee, and if applicable, Apostille Fees after your ceremony is complete.

What is your payment policy?

We ask that payment be made when you book your ceremony date and time.

We're going to need witnesses. Can you provide witnesses for us?

Most couples have their own witnesses (close friends and/or family).

But if you need, we can provide witnesses for your ceremony.

Their fee is $25 per witness, and we have made it easy to pay the witness fee when you book your ceremony with us.

You can book your witnesses here

Will our Certifcate of Marriage state whether the wedding was performed remotely / online?

No it does not. Your Marriage License/Certificate of Marriage issued by Utah County makes no annotation whether the ceremony was performed in person or remotely/online.

Do you officiate ceremonies for international couples?

We sure do! In fact, about 60 percent of our ceremonies are performed for couples outside the United States!

Do you officiate ceremonies for same-sex couples?

ABSOLUTELY!! We are honored to officiate ceremonies for ALL couples, regardless of orientation.

Love IS Love. Period!!

If it’s legally recognized by Utah County and the State of Utah, we WILL perform your ceremony.

Will you fill out our Marriage License Application for us?

We COULD charge you a few hundred dollars to fill out your application for you, but the application process is so simple, it takes most couples less than 20 minutes to fill out their Marriage License Application.

We are happy to point you in the right direction in getting that application filled out (and we don't charge extra for that)!

Do you provide Apostille services?

Yes we do. We can provide Apostille services for an additional fee.

With our Apostille service, we can have it shipped out to you in less than 2 weeks after your ceremony (and often, even sooner).

If we're sending the Apostille to a U.S. address, you can order it here.

If you need us to send it to an international address, you can click here.

How long does the ceremony take?

Our ceremonies usually take less than 15 minutes. The more you want to add to it (vows, ring exchanges, speeches), the longer it might take.

Honestly, even with the words of "Congratulations" from your guests/attendees, the 30 minute time block we provide is sufficient.

Should you need more than 30 minutes, let us know and we'll see what we can do to accommodate.

With our Deluxe Ceremony Package, you can have up to 60 minutes to enjoy the celebration with your family and friends.

Can our friends and family attend the ceremony as well?

Heck yes, they can!

The more, the merrier.

Depending on which package you choose, we can host anywhere from 20 to 100 attendees for your ceremony.

Do you provide a recording of the ceremony?

We sure do!

After your ceremony is complete, we provide a Dropbox link for you to download the recording to your device(s), so you can share it with the world.

Do you also officiate "traditional" in-person ceremonies?

Yes we do. Please check out our sister site, Ditch The Chapel for information about our in-person rates and availability.

Do you perform online Vow Renewals?

Heck yes we do!! Online vow renewals are a great way to celebrate your love with your friends and family, no matter where you, or they are in the world!
